My name is Yerina &
I am a psychotherapist.
I came to this work through an extended experience of chronic pain and disability. I had to let go of the previous work and life that I loved; and I have come to know in my bones the pain of loss, but also the gifts of grief in softening our certainties and opening life in unimagined directions.
I am multi-cultural, multi-racial and multi-lingual (fluent in English, Spanish, Norwegian and Swedish), and a global nomad who is creating a home in California. I intimately know what it is like to hold multiple identities, be in transition, and creatively live into meaning and belonging when neither is certain.
The question that has animated my life's work is: How do we create lives of genuine thriving? I carried that question through my work with social movements and media, and now I bring it into the therapy room. I believe, deeply, that we need one another to heal — individually and collectively —and that continues to be the foundation of my work.
My style has been described as warm, direct, collaborative, and poetic. I work with couples, teens and individual adults, and I have also led workshops, group therapy, and retreats.
